Retired Professor of Sociology and Director of the Institute for Strengthening Democracy in Bosnia , Konjic, B&H
Prof. Dzemal Sokolovic is the Director of the Institute for Strengthening Democracy in Bosnia , Konjic, B&H. He has been professor at the Department of Sociology, University of Sarajevo prior to the war in Bosnia . He has been the Reformist party candidate for Bosnia 's Presidency. He has taught and researched from 1992-1994 at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and the University of Graz, Austria. From 1994-2007 he was affiliated to the University of Bergen , Department of Comparative Politics, Norway . He is the author of several books and numerous articles published. His latest books include are: "Nation vs. People", Cambridge Scholars Press, "Reconstructing Multiethnic Societies" (ed. with Florian Bieber), Ashgate, "The Balkans: Searching for Solutions" (ed. with Stein Kuhnle), Rokkan Centre. He is also the organizer of the International Seminar "Democracy and Human Rights in Multi-ethnic Societies", in Konjic, BiH.
