Department of Biological Applications and Technology

The Department of Biological Applications and Technology opened in the 2000-2001 academic year. Its mission is to cultivate and foster the science of Biology, and life sciences in general. The Department aims to be at the cutting edge of basic and applied research and to provide students with modern high-quality education in all fields of Biology. Through its different and constantly developing educational activities, its purpose is to provide students with resources that will offer them the necessary scientific training to help them foster production of new fundamental knowledge, contribute to better environmental management and protection, develop innovative biological process technology and improve people’s health and quality of life. A comparative advantage of the Department is the five-year course of study, which allows students to master basic components of their science, be introduced to new applications and technologies resulting from the rapid development of Biology, and conduct doctoral research, during which they do not attend classes in order to better focus on the multifaceted parameters and features of research. The Department’s graduates find jobs in both the public and private sector, in fields, including education, research, health, biotechnology and environment.
