Department of Pre-School Education

The Department’s objectives, as laid out in the Study Guide, are outlined below:

Cultivation and fostering of Pedagogy Sciences through academic and applied teaching and research;
Provision of all the necessary tools to the Department’s graduates to ensure their scientific and professional development;
Contribution to addressing and resolving pedagogy issues in the education of toddlers and preschoolers;
Creation of the perfect conditions for research and experimentation in conjunction with the organization of research fields at undergraduate and postgraduate level;
Contribution in raising the bar and meeting constantly increasing needs in Education, with respect to preschool issues.

Compulsory minimum period of study: eight (8) semesters.

Postgraduate Study

The Department of Pre-School Education, School of Education Sciences, University of Ioannina offers a Postgraduate Course (Master) in Education Sciences, which was reformed in 2015.

The Master’s degree focuses on the individual branches of Education Sciences, covering both their theoretical and applied fields. Its purpose is to create scientific experts in Education Sciences, both to promote the individual branches of those sciences through developing scientific research and cultivating scientific thinking in general, and to offer a high level of expertise for the staffing of Educational Institutions with highly trained personnel that are capable of fulfilling their mission.

Doctoral Studies

Our Department has a long tradition in the assignment and supervision PhD Theses. The PhD Course has a set of internal operating regulations.

The PhD degree award process is determined by the current provisions of applicable laws and is completed when the conditions set by the General Assembly have been met (art. 14 par. 1, Law 2083/92).

Our Department welcomes PhD applications from: Graduates of a Greek or accredited foreign University Department of Education Sciences or graduates of other University Departments, upon submission of all required documents.
